Amita Schmidt - Spiritual Therapist

Mindfulness-based psychotherapy is the foundation of my practice. Mindfulness is a non-judgmental approach that allows you to have more awareness, choice, and compassion with difficult emotions as they arise. Mindfulness approaches allow you to unhook from old behavior patterns and begin to respond rather than react to new situations. In addition to mindfulness approaches, I also utilize cognitive therapy, spiritual inquiry, and kinesthetic/body based practices. I am also a certified EMDR Therapist (Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a therapeutic technique which can be useful for healing traumatic memories. I believe that therapy is a journey of healing the body, mind, emotions, and spirit together.
