Amita Schmidt, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist offering counseling for individuals. She has been practicing as a therapist since 1995, with a private practice on Maui since 2010. Amita’s work is informed by her deep commitment to mindfulness, spirituality, and the healing of depression and trauma.
Amita holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington in Seattle. She has worked as a counselor in both inpatient and outpatient mental health for many years. She also leads mindfulness meditation retreats and healing depression workshops nationally. Amita has worked as a consultant for the UCLA mindfulness research center program (MARC). She is certified in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and EMDR(for trauma), The Work of Byron Katie, and authentic movement therapy. She has trained in attachment re-patterning, mindfulness based awareness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Amita is also a published author.
